Information for Instructors
You have a proprietary teaching methodology and a community of followers. We follow many of you. Our software is designed to accompany your live teaching and videos — to help students like ourselves visualize your instruction on the fretboard, generate reference material like chord and scale diagrams, and get the most out of backing tracks.
The apps are free. Your content is not. That is the whole model in a sentence. We build the software and give it away; what plays inside it stays yours, and reaches a student only because you authorize them using the same email that they use behind your paywall. You decide if any content is free for all as a way to expand your audience.
What the apps are
NeckWise is a fretboard-study tool: scales, chords, progressions, and lessons built around them. It is the central hub for the whole family of xWise tools.
TrackWise is a backing-track player and librarian — browse, loop a section, slow it down, read the chords as they go past, load a looper pedal.
They share one account and one library, so a student signs in once. Your material appears in both, under your name.
What's yours is yours. You decide who sees it.
- Lesson presets are snapshots of a fretboard display in NeckWise that accompanies a video or livestream. These are created by you and remain access-controlled and never public unless you say so.
- Backing tracks are uploaded by you, access-controlled and never public unless you say so.
- PDF charts that accompany tracks are also uploaded by you and are stored against that track and travel with it, visible only to those with access to the track itself.
- Video always remains where you host it, behind your paywall or on YouTube or Vimeo. We link to the video as a convenience, but it never enters our systems.
- Progressions, or sequence of chords that are unique to private tracks stay private. Certain sequences of chords (like 12-bar blues) are common vocabulary and and may be shared.
Money
We never sell your material. Nobody buys anything from us to reach it — access comes from a relationship they already have with you.
We aren't selling our software. The apps are freeware that carry a tip jar to help defray development and hosting expenses. If we receive any, we split tips with instructors, 50-50, according to the email of the tipper. Where instructors share the same student, we'll split the tips equally. Accounting is expected to be quarterly.
Content
We will gladly add to the objects and concepts supported by these apps. If you need something they don't already support, like a scale, chord voicing, tag, or visual, please contact us directly by email or through the app feedback mechanism.
